DEBU

"Debu" - short for Devendra Prasad,  is a wonderful trekking Guide for Uttaranchal treks. He has an expert knowledge of this region and has supervised and conducted many trekking tours in Kumaon region. He is a very popular Guide with the Bengali tourists from West Bengal who throng these mountains during Puja Vacation in September/October of each year. From his customers he has learnt a smattering of Bengali and has even visited Kolkata when a grateful Customer forcibly took him on a free tour, to his hometown near Kolkata! Ever since his name has been shortened to the popular Bengali daknaam (i.e. nickname) " Debu".

Debu is not only a guide but can plan and arrange a complete tour with camping equipment, rations,  cooks, porters, pack-mules.

I have done several treks with him and would recommend his services to any tourist. He lives in Khati Village which is on the route to Pindari-Sunderdunga-Kafni treks.

Khati Village has no electricty or phones at present. So if you plan to use his services, the best way to contact is send him a Registered Letter with your Address, Phone number and Tentative Dates for your visit, some two months in advance. He will call you from Bageshwar and talk to you on phone and confirm the program.
