Day-6 -- 30th Sept 2007: Junbesi to Nunthala (a long trek day)
We started trek from Junbesi at 7:30 AM and went past Junebesi Gompa (pic left) and climbed down the stone steps to the river Junbesi Khola ... crossed it over a bridge and climbed back gradually up the mountain side on the opposite side. Across the valley, we could see the trail path that we used yesterday to descend into Junbesi. The picture (below) of Junbesi after about 30 mins of trekking.
Junebesi, a last look thru trees ... as we climb ridge on other side of river
This is an interesting view (9:00AM) of Lamjura-La and the descending trail path and the trail on the opposite ridge (pic center), where we turned left to see Junbesi for first time (now hidden to the right in the valley).
View of the steep climb ahead to Traksindu-La ... seen from Ringmo.

Flowers seen on the climb to Traksindu-La ....... from Ringmo
After 10 mins descent from Traksindu-La (3071M) ... we passed this Monastry of Traksindu (2960M) ... an example of Sherpa Monastic architecture founded by Tokten Shultrim a monk from Tengboche.
Mountain View Lodge (pic left) was built by Babu Chiri Sherpa (died on Everest in april 2005) who had climbed Everest 10 times, spent 21 hours on the summit and holds speed record for fastest climb from base camp to Everest Summit. The trail goes a long way down further thru conifir and rhodendron forests to cross a stream aand then finally reaches Nhuntala (at 2220M). By the time we reached Shangrila Guest House at 6:00PM, it was already dark.
Shangrila GH (below) turned out to be a nice looking GH ..... in the morning sunshine....... next day.
Day-7 1st Oct 2007: Nunthala (2200M) to Khari-Khola (2010M)
The next day was bright and sunny and we started out at 7:00AM after a hearty breakfast. Nunthala village looked pretty neat and beautiful with the Traksindu mountain backdrop (see pic left).
Looking East across Shangrila's beautiful green lawn .... the view showed many snow covered peaks in the distance
The trek was downhill from Nunthala and goes past terraced fileds and past Phuleli village (9:30AM) and then climbs steeply down to cross the Dudh Kosi river on a long suspension bridge at 9:40AM
Bhavnath crossing the 109M long suspension bridge over Dudh Kosi river
After crossing the bridge we turned left and stopped for tea. Then climbed steeply out of the river valley thru fields to reach the village of Juving (1680M), at 10:30AM. Still climbing higher we reached the top of the ridge (at 2060M) where a Chorten marked the top of the pass. We stopped at a Chokha teahouse here for lemon tea. Kharikhola could be seen from here (pic below) just 30mins walk downhill from here. We reached Khari-Khola at 1:30PM
Typical Corn hanging arrangement outside a Khari-Khola Sherpa home ... and trail looking back towards Choka ridge & chorten from where we came
Another view of Solukhumbu GH Khari-Khola - Bhavnath at the door
